The Perfect Peel™

The Perfect Peel™ works to transform your skin to a rejuvenated, brighter and clearer complexion for all skin types and tones. It is classified as a mid-depth peel and therefore should only be performed in-clinic by a qualified practitioner.

The Perfect Peel™ combines several potent ingredients including retinol, trichloroacetic acid, phenol, Vitamin C and salicylic acid combined with anti-aging antioxidant glutathione to deliver exceptional results after often only one or two treatments. The unique formulation can help to dramatically reduce various signs of ageing; smoothing fine lines and wrinkles as well as targeting melasma, UV damage and other causes of hyperpigmentation. It can, over time, potentially significantly improve acne scarring. The exfoliating acids remove dead skin cells, encouraging cell turnover and revealing fresher, younger-looking skin beneath.

Consultation

Your full face to face consultation with Dr Natalia will include:

  • A full assessment your skin, discussion regarding your concerns and an understanding of your desired results.
  • All the information you will need about the procedure itself, likely outcomes from the treatment and prices.

What happens during and after the treatment?

Dr Natalia will first cleanse your skin with a drying antiseptic. This is then followed by applying three layers of peel to your skin.  The skin will have a slight tingling sensation for about 1 minute and it will look slightly orange.

We recommend leaving the peel on for 6-12 hours after the treatment (as confirmed by Dr Natalia at your appointment), before washing it off with water to fully neutralise the peel.

Following the treatment, you will be given an aftercare pack containing two post-peel retinol cloths. The first should be applied to the treatment area 12-24 hours post treatment after neutralisation, and the second applied 24 hours after this. You should expect to start peeling on day 3 post-peel and will continue for 4-5 days. A post-peel moisturiser with steroid will be provided in the aftercare pack.

Important After Care

  • Full after care instructions will be provided by Dr Natalia at your appointment.
  • You must apply strong SPF (greater than SPF30) as this is essential to avoid post procedure hyperpigmentation.
  • You must completely avoid any sun exposure for a week following treatment.
  • You will need to plan to stay at home for the week following treatment due to peeling and avoiding sun exposure.

How does the treatment work?

Chemical skin peels work by deeply exfoliating the surface layers of the skin, forcing your body to quickly replenish it with new cells. Deeper chemical peels offer more-dramatic results but also take longer to recover from.

Are there any associated risks?

A chemical peel can cause various side effects including redness, scabbing and infection.

Rarely, a chemical peel can cause longer term redness and scarring. Antibiotics and steroid medications can be used to soften the appearance of these scars. A chemical peel can lead to a bacterial, fungal or viral infection, such as a flare-up of the herpes virus which is the virus that causes cold sores.

A chemical peel can cause treated skin to become darker than normal (hyperpigmentation) or lighter than normal (hypopigmentation). Hyperpigmentation is more common after superficial peels, while hypopigmentation is more common after a deep peel. These problems are more common in people with skin of colour and can sometimes be permanent.
